Summer Wedding Trends: Glam it up!

Wedding season is here! And, really…what’s better than a summer time wedding? Whether you’re having a cute little backyard bash, beach blow out, or beautiful indoor ceremony, Swoozie’s has you covered with the latest trends that are heating up Summer! Let’s start with the basics…

Hot summer colors?

Yellow! Yellow is the perfect summer time, feel-good color for bridesmaids’ dresses, flowers, and small detailing. The trend embodies simplicity—so give your bridesmaids some guidelines and let them wear the yellow dress of their choice. You all save on cost and get a fabulous backyard, cozy feel to your wedding. Accent the bouquets with yellow and it’s a win!

Easy décor

Mason jars are a must-have when checking out wedding décor this summer! Use these to hold centerpieces, candles, lights, or drinks. These adorable accents are perfect for the cute, outdoor, summer time wedding. They come tall and short, so mix it up when you’re deciding on cute accent pieces. We’ve got you covered!

Wishes of prosperity

Okay. So as you leave the ceremony, how will your guests see you off? People often throw rice, birdseed, rose pedals, and confetti as the bride and groom leave the ceremony. The newest trend this summer is bubble blowing.  Set up a table at the entrance with programs on one side, and bubbles on the other. Bubbles add a magical touch to your fairytale farewell!

Special Treats

The trendiest summer wedding treat is the infamous push-up pop! They’re easier and less expensive than most people think. Check out Courtney Dial Whitmore’s book—it’s a great novelty to keep handy for your next big event—like when those babies start coming!

It’s a Water Party!

What can I say, I am a sucker for a good themed party.  I have to be honest, it is one of the super fun parts of being a mom!  I get to express my creativity and do it for my kids. My daughter, Ava turned 5 and she wanted a water party.  What a great way to end summer and run a bunch of energy out of Ava and her friends.

Cupcakes are a must, I added a touch of whimsy.  And a massive cupcake for effect, and a focal point.

The raspberry lemonade was a big hit, but not as big as the blue and green straws for extra fun.

The kids had a blast running through sprinklers and slipping and sliding down the massive slide.  The colorful kickboards added to the fun!

Ava just could not resist a lick of the blue icing and the kids loved the goggles that we gave them as favors.  They were fitted with goggles and water guns as they arrived, so there was sure to not be a dry kid at the party!

It was fun to add some color to the gift table with wrapping paper that are in the cool, neon colors of summer!

GUEST BLOGGER: April is a mom of two to Ava and Aiden. She is a graduate of the University of Alabama and is a member of the Tri Delta Alumnae Association. April is also active in the Atlanta non-profit community. Be sure to give her a tweet at @aprilvoris.

Buckhead Customer Rachael Throws a Fabulous Birthday Party! Poolside Pizza with Polka Dots…and Glitter!!!

There is absolutely nothing I love more than having the opportunity to see the celebration once it leaves our store. We help customers pick the theme, design the perfect invitation, and find the most brilliant gifts, but the celebration actually comes to life once the guests arrive.

Rachael, a fabulous customer who shops with us at our Chastain Square location in Atlanta, was wonderful enough to send us these pics from her daughter’s birthday party. She was in the store almost daily (we love you Rachael!) before the party bringing in creative ideas and collaborating with our Swoozie girls here at the store.

And, after all the hours of planning, it looks like everything came together fabulously to make this poolside party a hit for the guest of honor and her crew!

The fun-filled poolside party had a polka-dot theme, with splashes of color perfect for summer – aqua, fuchsia & tangerine. Favor bags & food containers brought in the polka dots, anchored by solid colored serving trays & bowls. And, the solid grass skirt added a luau flair to the party. (If you can’t make it to the islands for the event, bring the islands to you! Aloha darling!)

The girls drank from adult-inspired pink flutes with fun swirly straws, all plastic and perfect for the pool. For the food, Rachael went with items she knew the girls were sure to love – pizza, popcorn & cake!

There are those smiles! The girls each received (and wore with style) a pair of our disco glitter sunglasses that have attached “earrings” to the arms. What a perfect accessory for a rocking pool party! Who wouldn’t love these? And, all the girls look coordinated and glamorous in the photographs that will line your family albums for years to come.

Many thanks to Rachael for sharing the party with us!!! We can’t wait for the next one!

Symbols of Summer

There is no better time than the Summer for letting loose, having fun and enjoying great friends and family.

With the busy month of May pushing us closer and closer into the heat of the Summer, there are variety of hot trends I see emerging for this season.

Having a sense of humor is a trend I just can’t get enough of. I hope this one continues to last thru the seasons, and I just know it will. This year we can’t keep our Redneck Wine Glasses in stock; they are flying off the shelves. Brilliant sayings are gracing napkins, cards, cups & koozies alike. Little touches of humor are woven into every moment of having fun with family and friends this summer.

Personalized summertime wares are always a hit and this year is no exception. A high trend for personalized kids items – from towels to water bottles, and even some they can customize themselves! Also, personalized outdoor entertaining ware – from galvanized tubs & serving trays, to napkins & koozies, and picnic baskets too.

Red, white & blue has never been a louder, more present theme than it will be for 2011. Patriotism reigns high and at the top of everyone’s mind, and we’re seeing bright and vibrant reds, blues and yellows to ring the spirit loud and clear. Stars and stripes and anything with a flag will be proud to be displayed far beyond just the 4th of July holiday this year.

Which Summer trends are you loving the most?
