Woodland Animals Celebrate a 1st Birthday.

I think this has been the fastest and best year of my life. My little boy, Wyatt, just celebrated his very first birthday and celebrating with him couldn’t have been more fun!

Woodlands Animal 1st Birthday

The theme for his 1st birthday was “woodland animals,” inspired by the whimsical illustrations of Rifle Paper Co. I just adore this husband & wife duo, and used their work for Wyatt’s invitations and thank you cards. I am just obsessed with how the invitation came out, and Swoozie’s designed the wording and printed them for me on-the-spot (perfect for those who are time-crunched!) They were perfect for setting the tone for the day. My favorite site, Pinterest, helped to keep the inspiration alive and the planning perfect {take a peek at his 1st Birthday Board!}

Woodlands Animal Cake

Grandma joined in the fun, making him a birthday crown fit for a king, hand-painted banner flag and helped out with the cookie crumble chocolate cakes topped with tiny evergreen trees. The cakes turned out just as I had envisioned and for the first taste of sweets, I think he enjoyed them as much as our guests!

Woodland Animals 1st Birthday Trail Mix

Woodland Animals Snacks

Small felted animals made perfect place cards for each food station – a mouse to man the trailmix bar, which included puffs for Wyatt’s little friends so they had small snacks, too! A bunny, bird, raccoon, fox, and owl all stood guard to present other goodies for our afternoon party – stuffed mushrooms, sweet acorns, a broccoli forest and pretzel sticks, among others – all keeping in the theme of a walk in the woods. And, even better I used the tiny animals as ornaments this Christmas for a little tree in Wyatt’s room!

Wooden Utensils Paper Straws

Special details from Swoozie’s, like these bamboo utensils displayed in a simple jar helped make even the smallest touches meaningful. And, for a Fall birthday party hot apple cider for the adults served in jam jars was made even better with these throwback, brown striped paper straws.

1st birthday cake

1st birthday smash cake

We made two tall cakes for our party-goers and a tiny smash cake for my little guy, stocked with a few little trees and a fun gold #1 sparkle candle to add the extra special touch for his little cake.

1st birthday party favors

And, of course for the many many kiddos are the party, tiny takeaway treats! These polka dot kraft favor bags were the perfect vessel for sending some of Wyatt’s favorite things home with our guests as a thank you for coming – animal crackers and tiny wooden shakers.

I could not have imagined a more fun way to celebrate our first year, and I can’t wait for #2 to be just as fun!

Special thanks to the photographers at LeahandMark.com for shooting this party for us!
